Recently our friend and co-worker, Amy Marcker, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was quickly rushed into surgery to have the tumor removed. Thankfully, the surgeons at Methodist Hospital were able to remove the entire tumor and determine that it is not cancerous. Our friend is currently recovering at her parent's house and doing very well. Many of us in the restaurant industry, including Amy, depend on tips as our main source of income. Amy will not be able to work for as

Spend a day at Spades Park, Saturday, August 25, noon - 11pm, at the Feast of Lanterns. The Lord of the Yum Yum rules as emcee while headliner Jennie DeVoe returns to rock the stage. From hip hop to folk, music plays throughout the day. Activities throughout the day include:

September Event for the 135th Anniversary Celebration: Fri. Sept 7, at 7:30 p.m.
Woodruff residents and guests can meet at COMEDY SPORTZ for an evening of "ALL AGE INTERACTIVE IMPROV EXPERIENCE”.
Ticket cost is $15.00 per person, and CS will donate $3 per ticket to Woodruff. Comedy Sportz is located at 721 Massachusetts Ave. Make checks out to the Woodruff Place Civic League. Call Tessie for reservations.

Please save the date of Saturday, October 6 as we celebrate our 135 year anniversary at the All Decade Home Coming Hop. The event will be held at the Town Hall from 7 pm - 11 pm and is an adult only event - beverages, snacks and desserts will be available. You are encouraged to wear costumes from any decade as well as your dancing shoes! There will be a limbo, charleston, jitter bug and twist dance contest. This program will introduce you and your household to the impact of global warming on our community, and to a set of simple tools that reduce our energy consumption. While becoming more energy efficient to help solve the problem of global warming, we will also save money on our gas and electric bills.

For the last five years, Casino Woodruff has exceeded expectations in fun-making and fund-raising. On February 7, 2009 the legend continues at 7 pm at the town hall with black jack, craps, poker; food, jello and beverages.
