Trick or Treat Run/Walk--scary teenagers doing good

10/25/2008 - 10:00am
10/25/2008 - 12:00pm

The Trick or Treat Run/Walk invites all teens of Woodruff Place (and their friends) to run/walk the Woodruff Place Drives in costume!

Saturday, October 25, 10 am Check-in; 10:30 am Start. Meet at the Teachers’ Treasures parking lot at 1800 E. 10th Street to register.

Reason: To collect donations for Gleaners Food Bank and Teachers’ Treasures (food and school supplies). Community service hours like these are good for college and scholarship applications.

Format:
Three teams (
divided equally) will start at 10th Street and run (with grocery carts, courtesy of Teachers’ Treasures) up and down the drives collecting donations from neighbors (see donations suggestions below).

The Drive's team with the most donations at the end of the course wins (but all participants are invited to the town hall party at 8 pm that evening to celebrate). Event organizers will host the participant party with prizes, food, beverages, and music (til 11 pm). Woodruff Parent Organizers: Darala Barnett and Lee Ann Harper (Middle Drive).

Info for Racers:

  1. Parental consent required to check in day of run/walk (download form below)
  2. No fee to participate
  3. The better your costume, the better your chances to attract donations
  4. Teams divided after check-in by random drawing; East, West, and Middle teams.
  5. Participants should gather donations to bring to check-in on 10/25. Those donations will be added to your team’s final tally to determine the winner. (see list of suggested donations below)

Info for Woodruff Neighbors:

Racers will run/walk on sidewalks so neighbors are encouraged to clear debris and decorate sidewalks to encourage their drive’s team.

All Woodruffians are encouraged to have their donations of non-perishable food items and school supplies ready early. Neighbors on the west side of each drive will see racers first. Neighbors interested in volunteering at the event (as sidewalk and street monitors) should call Darala Barnett at 638.3729.
